September Highlights

Suicide Awareness Month

September is Suicide Awareness Month. This month serves as a vital reminder of the importance of mental health and the various factors that influence it, including housing stability and fairness.  Safe, stable, and equitable housing can significantly enhance an individual’s mental well-being, providing a foundation for security and belonging. Conversely, discrimination and lack of access to fair housing can lead to feelings of isolation and despair, exacerbating anxiety and depression and increasing the risk of suicidal thoughts. By advocating for fair housing policies and ensuring that everyone has access to supportive living conditions, we can foster healthier communities that promote mental health and help prevent suicide. Because when you change “I” into “we”, even illness can transform into wellness.
