On August 16, 2021, an agreement was signed between the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). This agreement will initiate stronger oversight by regulators to assure greater fairness over government-sponsored companies like Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks.

The goal of this agreement, called a memorandum of understanding (MOU), is to make sure the Fair Housing Act is enforced well. This act initiates an important step towards helping and protecting people from being treated unfairly when looking for housing.

The MOU is special because it's the first time they are working together in this way. They will share information and work together on investigations to make sure everyone is treated fairly in housing. They want to make sure there are no barriers that stop people from getting good housing and building a better life.

HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge (pictured above) said this agreement will have a huge impact on people's lives and communities. They want to make sure that everyone, no matter who they are, has the same chances to find a safe and affordable place to live.

FHFA Acting Director Sandra Thompson (pictured above) also supports this agreement. They are serious about stopping any housing discrimination. By working together, they can make sure that everyone has equal opportunities for good housing.

Overall, this is a big step forward in making sure the promise of the Fair Housing Act is kept. They want to make sure that all Americans have a fair chance at finding a good place to live. Read The Full Article Here.
